Personal Coaching

Overview

I am a Performance Coach, NLP Master Practitioner and CBT Therapist with more than 20 years’ experience as a Senior HR Professional, before establishing my own Coaching and Consultancy Practice, What Next Consultancy (UK) Ltd, in 2009.

I am passionate about helping individuals reach their full potential through my proven and innovative coaching style.    Whilst I have been trained in the traditional coaching methods, through working with many hundreds of clients, I have found my own unique style, focusing on creating long-lasting behavioural change; fundamentally assisting clients to change their thought patterns to achieve tangible results, and reaching peak performance levels.

My philosophy is that no matter what has happened in your past or what struggles you may be facing now, everyone can increase their performance levels and become healthier, happier and more in control of their life.  By understanding why you do what you do and providing you with easy to use tools and techniques to address any development areas, you too can make incredible leaps forward, propelling you into the life and success you deserve.

In addition to ‘general’ coaching, I have experience of working with many different sports disciplines including, golf, rugby, football and triathlon, assisting clients to achieve exceptional results, increasing their performance levels through simple, easy to use mental agility tools and techniques.

Typical Coaching Topics

Clients come to me with a vast range of personal and professional challenges. Both are interlinked; where there is an issue in one area, it typically bleeds through to others. By working with clients providing them with common sense guidance as well as practical tools, they are able to deal with blockers quickly (typically in 3/4 sessions). Here are some of the typical focus areas for clients:

  • Increasing personal performance
  • Personal branding
  • Overcoming blockers both personally and professionally
  • Increasing professional profile
  • Career progression
  • Leading and inspiring successful teams
  • Managing difficult people, including toxic relationships – personal and professional
  • Setting and achieve dynamic goals
  • Managing anxiety, stress and overwhelm
  • Increasing productivity and motivation
  • Creating a good work/life/training balance
  • Managing critical relationships – personal and professional
  • Advanced influencing and communication skills
  • Building resilience and avoiding burnout
  • Dealing with bullying behaviour (personal or professional)

Is coaching right for me?

If you recognise that expertise, commitment and determination alone aren’t enough to put you at the top of your game, coaching is for you. I will help you to fully understand your strengths and identify areas for personal development and provide you with the tools with which to achieve exceptional results.  However, nothing works unless you do! If we choose to work together, you will need to put the work in.  Homework completion is an essential part of my coaching – nothing will change, unless you do…

How does it work?

I achieve exceptional and tangible results using a range of transformational methods, including Neuro Linguistic Programming, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and other innovative tools, which are complemented with traditional coaching techniques.  My coaching ethos is centred around creating long-lasting behavioural change.

What happens during a coaching session?

The first session is typically longer than the subsequent ones.  I will get to know you, asking you to talk freely about your background, your challenges and what you hope to get from the coaching relationship.  At the end of the session, you will be set homework which we will both agree on.

In subsequent sessions, we will discuss progress, make an necessary adjustments and agree on further homework.

Are coaching sessions face to face?

Session can be either face to face or virtual.

Is coaching confidential?

All coaching conversations are 100% private and confidential.

How many sessions will I need?

I work on a minimum of two sessions, paid upfront.  Whilst most client achieve exceptional results in a short time, optimium changes can be expected after 3/4 sessions.  Further sessions are available if required.

How long are sessions?

Sessions tend to be around 1.5 hours, face to face are sometimes longer (there is no extra charge where sessions are longer).

How far apart are the sessions?

It depends on the client and their needs.  However, typically sessions are space around 4/5 weeks apart.

What kind of ‘homework’ will I be expected to complete?

It varies from client to client depending on what you want to achieve.  However, homework is an integral part of coaching and I will expect any actions agreed at the end of a session to be completed prior to the next one.
