About Me

Hi, I’m Jo Banks—Executive Coach, Leadership Development Trainer, and founder of What Next Consultancy (UK) Ltd. I help people build more fulfilling careers, healthier relationships, and happier lives using a practical, psychology-based approach that actually works.

Since 2009, I’ve delivered coaching and training to tens of thousands of people across all levels of business—from aspiring managers to senior leaders—through corporate workshops, webinars, group programmes, and executive coaching. I’m trusted by organisations to equip their people with the tools they need to thrive at work and beyond.

Before launching my business, I spent almost 20 years as a Senior HR Professional across multiple industries, so I understand the day-to-day challenges organisations face—especially when it comes to performance, leadership, burnout, change, and engagement. My role now is to help solve those challenges by improving mindsets, behaviours, and outcomes.

My Approach

Everything I teach is grounded in psychology and human behaviour. I don’t believe in surface-level fixes or vague motivation. Instead, I focus on helping people understand why they think, feel, and behave the way they do—because we can’t change what we’re not aware of.

Once people understand what’s really driving their actions, they can make better decisions, handle pressure more effectively, communicate with impact, and unlock the kind of confidence that sticks.

I combine evidence-based techniques from behavioural psychology, CBT, NLP, and coaching to deliver content that’s relatable, engaging, and easy to apply. My style is no-nonsense, compassionate, and straight-talking—and I never ask anyone to do something I haven’t tried and tested myself.

Who I Work With

While all of my work is currently mainly delivered through corporate clients, my focus is always on the individual—helping them grow, develop, and perform at their best, so they can contribute more meaningfully to their teams and organisations.

Whether I’m working with managers, senior leaders, or high-potential talent, the goal is the same: to create lasting change by helping people think differently, feel more empowered, and take positive action.
